Setting PDF reader for help files
“How do I set Preview or Adobe Reader to open my help files?”
Go to the applications folder and find the Final Cut application.
Right-click on it and select Show Package Contents.
Then go to Contents/Resources/English.lproj (or the language of your choice)
Go to the Final Cut Help folder and select the PDF files.
Use Cmd-I to get info for them.
Set the Open with popup to the application you want to use. I suggest using Preview as it opens quickly and searches quickly.
This works for most pro applications and many other Mac applications as well.
Word of warning: be careful what you do in the package contents. You are manipulating the application itself and can damage it if you are not careful.
