Why Final Cut? Why me?
Final Cut Express and Final Cut Studio are the most cost effective and powerful video editing applications available.
Final Cut Studio is an integrated suite of applications including Final Cut Pro, Color, Motion, LiveType, Soundtrack Pro, DVD Studio Pro, Compressor, and Cinema Tools. It is a resolution independent application that will work with any format from film through HD uncompressed, SD uncompressed, with ProRes 422 and DVCPRO HD, as well as DV and multimedia resolution material. It is an extraordinarily powerful and versatile tool that has been widely adopted in all forms of media production, film, broadcast, corporate, event production, as well as education and personal use.
Final Cut Express comes with LiveType is a DV, HDV and AVCHD only video editing application. It is the most cost effective editing solution for this formats, widely used in schools and colleges, and an ideal way to learn a complex interface with most of the tools and capabilities of Final Cut Pro, before moving on to the unlimited power of FCS. The application is a favorite with serious hobbyists, giving far greater control and creative freedom than iMovie, at a fraction of the cost of the full Studio package.
Why me? In addition to my considerable experience in broadcast television and as a teacher of video production and editing, I have been using Final Cut Pro since it was first released in April 1999. I was probably one of the first teachers in the country who introduced FCP to students, and was the first person to create a step-by-step tutorial book for Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Pro 2 Editing Workshop, written in 2001. I have been writing about, teaching and producing video programming with FCP and FCE ever since.
